Speaker Abdul Hamid on Wednesday regretted the incident of physical assault on Opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farooque by the law enforcers during hartal hour.
The speaker also assured of writing a letter to home ministry for enquiry about the incident when an 18-member delegation of BNP-led opposition parties called on him at his office in the parliament.
Led by BNP joint secretary general Mahbubuddin Khokon, the parliamentary delegation submitted a memorandum to the speaker demanding punishment of two police officials--Harun and Biplob Sarker-- allegedly attacked on the opposition chief whip.
